Shri Bhuwan Chandra Pathak, a Distinguished Scientist of Department of Atomic Energy is responsible for implementation of Nuclear Power Projects based on PHWR Technology in India. He is currently holding the position of Director (Projects) in NPCIL.

He joined 30th Batch of BARC training school in the year 1986 after graduation in Mechanical Engineering from GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology.

He has rich experience of more than 33 years in projects implementation of NPPs of all capacities of 220, 540,700, 1000 MWe of both PHWR and PWR technologies at different sites in India.

After having completed one year training, he joined RAPP-3&4, and worked in various capacities for erection of nuclear equipment and its core components. After completion of both the units at RAPP-3&4, he was elevated as Project Engineer (Nuclear Piping) and transferred to TAPP-3&4, where he was responsible for completion of nuclear piping including its major equipment. Timely completion of this critical path activity, despite of delay in supply of equipment, ensured TAPP-3&4 establishing benchmark of completion of First Unit in five years. After successful completion of Nuclear Piping, he was assigned additional responsibility of outdoor piping and elevated as Additional Chief Engineer.


In the 2006, he was transferred to KKNPP with still wider responsibilities. He was elevated to Chief Construction Engineer and completed construction and erection of KKNPP. He was transferred to RAPP-7&8 in the year 2012 initially as Chief Construction Engineer and later on elevated as Project Director.


He was appointed as Executive Director (Projects-PHWR) in the year 2016 at NPCIL, HQ . He is also a Director in AnushaktiVidhyut Nigam Ltd, a joint venture of NPCIL and NTPC.


Shri Pathak took over as Director(Projects) on 4th of July 2019.
